Castles in Czech Republic

Czech Republic has more preserved castles and chateaux per square mile than any other country in the world. Bohemia basin is a fertile land located in the center of Europe with large rivers crisscrossing. Once a seat of Holy Roman Empire, Czech was historically a wealthy nation.

Here are some of the castles I got to visit over the years.

Prague Castle

The iconic Prague Castle has been the political centre of the country since the 9th century.

Karlstejn
The magnificent medieval castle was the main depository of the Emperor's treasures.

Cesky Krumlov
The castle and the town of Cesky Krumlov is straight out of a fairy tale.

Loket
Loket is a very picturesque Gothic castle from the 13th century.

Krivoklat
Located in a beautiful forest, Krivoklat was originally a royal hunting castle.

I have yet to visit many famous ones such as Hluboká nad Vltavou, Ceský Šternberk, Litomyšl, Pernštejn, Bouzov, Lednice & Valtice, and Frýdlant.

There are so many castles and ruins dotted all over the country.
